Do you feel tired and overworked?

It seems that many of us consider being tired and overworked as a benchmark of success, like a badge of honor. In our Western culture, it means that we are working hard, overdoing, overachieving, and putting ourselves and our health last.

You’re not alone……I used to be an over-doer, over-achiever, Type A personality. I used to think that overdoing was the only way I had value in the world – so no judgment here!

But over time, I’ve learned that burning the candle at both ends leads to exhaustion and imbalances. Being exhausted isn’t something you should be proud of – or even have to deal with.

Through my own health journey, I learned a few things that underly Being Tired All The Time, and I’d like to share them with you in case it helps you find a better, more productive, and healthy way of being in the world.

If you’re constantly exhausted, vegging out on Netflix or drinking extra coffee in the morning isn’t the best approach.

Did you know that even people who get “adequate” sleep – averaging 6-8 hours per night – still report being tired.

It’s true that having good “sleep hygiene” is important, but I’ve found exhaustion is connected to a few other important things to address.

See if any of these may fit you.

My Top 5 Reasons You May Be Tired All The Time

1. You likely have nutritional deficiencies.

  • Our soils are depleted, so even if you eat organic, things may not have grown in nutrient-dense soil.
  • Even if you think you’re eating well, you may not be digesting things well and, therefore, unable to absorb nutrients well. Most people on the planet have some level of malabsorption and gut permeability issues.
  • And you likely eat the same foods all the time. Less variety means fewer nutrients. So shake it up, and eat a wider variety of vegetables and low-sugar fruits.
  • Stress causes your body to need more fuel, with higher density nutrient content. Without this, you are likely deficient.

But Being Tired Isn’t The Only Sign Of Nutrient Deficiency

You should also sit up and pay attention if you:

  • Catch every cold that comes around
  • Have dull skin, weak nails, or hair that won’t grow
  • Can’t control your intense cravings for sugary or fatty foods
  • Have brain fog or trouble concentrating
  • Have sore muscles or get muscle fatigue or cramps often.

Nutrient deficiency can negatively impact every aspect of your health and well-being.

My Nutrient Boosting Hacks

  • Heal your gut so you can digest and absorb what you’re eating (see my first book: Holistic Keto for Gut Health; A Program for Resetting Your Metabolism…. No you don’t have to be Keto to get a Ton out of this book)
  • Chew your food a lot more than you are. This stimulates digestion and you’re more likely to absorb nutrients better
  • Eat a wide variety of plants and animals (sorry vegans, I love you, I used to be you, and my body was so sick as a vegan).
  • Take an organic grass-fed Organ Complex. Paleovalley has a decent one
  • Take collagen and whole food, nutrient-dense, green powder. I like Innotech’s fermented greens powder-berry flavor! You can find it here and use coupon code HEALTH10
  • Take digestive enzymes and HCL with pepsin to aid in the breaking down of your food so you can better absorb the nutrients

2. Iron Anemia and B12 anemia (megaloblastic anemia) can cause a lot of fatigue, dry skin, brittle hair and nails, menstrual irregularities, infertility, pale dull skin, muscle weakness to name a few.

  • There are various kinds of anemia, they don’t all need iron so please consider getting a truly comprehensive functional blood chemistry (FBCA) panel to discover the real root of fatigue for you. It would be an honor to speak with you about this.
  • Learn more here.
  • If you have iron anemia, take iron with Vitamin C to help with absorption, and avoid taking it with calcium foods or supplements.
  • Address the root of anemia. I can help you discover this. Is it due to heavy menstruation due to a fibroid, genetic issues, nutritional deficiencies, absorption issues, or internal bleeding due to gut issues etc.

How to fix Anemia? First, identify what type it is and where it came from. Then give the needed nutrient, such as iron or methylated folate and methylcobalamin (B12). I can identify all of this and more in my comprehensive functional blood chemistry analysis (FBCA)

3. Thyroid Issues or similar Metabolic issues can cause extreme fatigue, lack of motivation, hair loss, dry skin, weight gain, mood swings, hormone imbalances, infertility, digestion and gut issues, skin issues, depression, and food cravings.

Thyroid is tricky and requires expert care. Are you aware that there are 10 lab markers of thyroid health that your doctor should be doing blood tests for? But they don’t, insurance won’t pay for it, they say it’s too preventative. But I do ALL of these tests and understand how to interpret the results based on healthy and functioning. The regular lab reference ranges are based on sick people. So if your doctor said that your thyroid or TSH marker was “normal”, Heads Up…. That was comparing you to “sick” people…. Not an accurate marker of health… Please let me help.

Thyroid Hacks: First, identify exactly what the issues are through FBCA.

  • Avoid raw cruciferous veggies
  • Avoid all soy products
  • Be careful of iodine products. We need to ensure you do not have autoimmune issues because iodine can exacerbate them.
  • Detox the liver
  • Check for latent viruses such as EBV, which can hide out in the thyroid and cause issues.
  • You may need supplements like L-Tyrosine, but we won’t know until we do a thorough test.

4. HPA (Hypothalamus, Pituitary, Adrenal) Axis issues. AKA: adrenal fatigue. Yep, all that stress, red bull stimulants, coffee, and sugar have taken its toll on you. This can cause extreme fatigue and impacts many other systems in your body. I prefer a comprehensive and individualized approach.

HPA Hacks: First, let’s get to the root of how this arose and address lifestyle challenges and stressors.

  • Take adaptogenic herbs. My favorite is Adaptocrine XL by Apex Energetics. I can drop ship to you. Just email me at clientcare@kristingraycemcgary.com
  • Therapeutic mushrooms such as cordyceps, reishi, lions mane, and turkey tail can help but don’t take them all together. It’s best to take 1-3 at a time.
  • Move your body but don’t overdo it. Exercise in the morning to support healthy cortisol levels.
  • Take licorice root in the morning, two doses before 12 noon.
  • Rest, destress, and have good sleep hygiene.
  • Acupuncture and neural therapy can be incredibly helpful!

5. Latent Viruses and Autoimmune issues can cause extreme fatigue
I’ve found that many people have Epstein Barr Virus, which can flare and cause extreme fatigue for no apparent reason. There are ways to work with this virus to keep it at bay.

EBV Hacks: First, we need to discover if you have it, next we need to see how your immune system is functioning. Then we begin to look at antiviral herbs, oils, and supplements as well as immune boosting support to find what is best for your unique biochemistry.

A few favorites: Lauricidin, Oil of Oregano, Liposomal Vitamin C and Vit C IVs, homeopathic EBV, glutathione, and NAD to name a few.

Autoimmune issues can really be draining and they can be difficult to discover. Often people go for years with mysterious symptoms that no doctor can figure out. It can be frustrating and lead you to feel quite depleted and searching for answers.

Autoimmune Hacks:
We Must discover if you have an autoimmune issue and then address is properly. There is a test by Cyrex labs that can identify predictive antibodies to most tissues and glands in your body. We can then see if your body is attacking itself, halt the attack, and balance your immune system.

  • Gut repair is in order! The gut is the Throne of your immune system, so we’d get that in order.
  • Balance your immune system depending on what we discovered during comprehensive functional blood chemistry analysis.
  • Address lifestyle
  • Address subconscious thought patterns that may be sabotaging your health and life
  • Address genetic expression
  • Dive deeply into your way of being, your purpose and passions, your relationships, nutrition, and then discover where things went wrong and help you regain balance, resiliency, and strength.

These 5 reasons you may be tired all the time are the tip of the iceberg, there are more. You are an individual, and I believe you deserve to be treated as such. No cookie-cutter approach here.
