Do You Ever Feel Stuck?
Many patients I see report feeling stuck in their body and life. They often have symptoms in their body and unresolved stuff in their relationships. They feel like life is passing them by, and they can’t seem to get it together enough to do the things that they understand will really be beneficial. Many of them appear successful on the outside, even highly influential, but there are blind spots that are limiting them in big ways.
Do you ever feel stuck in your body or life? It’s like there are things you may desire changing, but you can’t seem to create the time or energy for it. Or you “know” better, but you continue doing things that you understand are not in your highest best interest; like eating sugar, avoiding the gym, carb loading on chips, muffins and ice cream (even the healthier versions), staying up too late, drinking coffee, or over-doing trying to catch-up or stay ahead?
Over the last 22 years I’ve developed and used dozens of techniques to help my patients get unstuck quickly. When I work one-on-one with someone it’s easy for me to identify what is underlying the stuckness. Next, I discern which tool will jiggle it loose in the most loving and transformational way. I listen to your body and mind to guide me as to what is in your highest best interest.
I wanted to share a few of my secrets with you here.
My Top Secrets to Getting Unstuck
1. Shake things up by changing your daily habits. I’ve found that doing things a bit differently can help you get unstuck, so shake things up a bit. If you find you always drive home on the same route, take a different road. Find places in your life where you can begin to do things differently. Brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand. Use a different coffee mug each morning. Sleep on the other side of the bed. Reorganize your desk or bathroom counter. By doing things differently you are literally changing the wiring and firing of your brain and this will impact many other areas of your life.
2. Move your body. When you feel stuck, whether it’s emotionally, physically, or spiritually, movement can really help get things moving in a different direction. Take a walk, a yoga class, go for a run, swimming, take a gyrotonic class, or attend a community dance event. I often turn on my favorite tunes and simply dance in my living room. Shake your body around, move in a way that feels good to you. Intend to get unstuck while moving your body. If you’re really stuck then once may not be enough, so begin a practice of movement and enjoy flowing freedom.
3. Working with the energy of liver can really help you get unstuck in your body and life. In Asian medicine, the liver is in charge of the free flow of Qi (vital life-force) for the entire body. Add the juice of ½ lemon or lime to warm water each morning for 2 weeks. Write a list or letter of all the things that piss you off and then ceremonially burn it in a safe fire. The liver houses unresolved anger so it’s important to release it all, let it all go, no more hanging on to any anger or frustration. Part of releasing this anger is finding forgiveness in your heart for yourself and others.
