Do Cravings cramp your style? Do you wish you didn’t have them any more?
Cravings get such a bad rap… but they’re not inherently bad.

Cravings are actually a way for your body to communicate with you. Your body speaks to you with cravings.

And the type of cravings you’re having reveal a lot about what your body needs…

I’d like to share something really important so you don’t get trapped by those cravings!
This information can empower you so you don’t give in to eating junk.

3 Major Types of Cravings

Type 1 : Craving Big, Heavy, Indulgent Meals

Imagine craving a large pasta meal with garlic bread, or an entire pizza, or a big steak and mashed potatoes.

This is actually pretty straightforward:
When you crave heavy, greasy, or large quantities of food, it is a sign that you’re actually nutrient deprived for high-quality protein.

I recommend my patients to try adding a serving of Grass Fed Bone Broth Protein or Whole Body Collagen to their morning routine and see if they notice a difference. The Bone Broth gives them the gut-healing, filling, nourishing collagen protein they are usually lacking – and it totally nixes the cravings, too.

Type 2 : Wanting Sweets or Snacks at Work

Many people are working from home these days. Depending on your place of work, you may have access to more sugary junk food or you may have secret stashes at home. You may reach for sweets after lunch to help give you a boost and avoid an afternoon energy slump.

Type #2 cravings are usually about blood sugar imbalances. When energy dips during a long day, you unconsciously reach for a sweet or heavy carb treat to boost it back up. When your energy stays even, you don’t even think about snacking.

These cravings can disappear with a few tricks:

  1. One is Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.  Research has shown apple cider vinegar helps stabilize blood sugar – which might be why it has also been shown to boost fat loss and minimize cravings.
  2. Next, high-quality protein can also nix these sweet cravings.
  3. Thirdly, an herbal supplement called Gymnema Sylvestre, taken 1-3x day can stop a craving within 20-30 minutes.

Type #3 : Special Treats at Night or When You’re Alone

You know what I’m talking about…  A glass of wine, pint of ice cream, or candy bar after the kids are in bed or anytime you’re (finally!) alone for a few minutes.

Type #3 cravings are all about self-care, comfort, and connection.  If you’re dreaming about being alone with a gallon of ice cream – you’re probably not really wanting dessert. You’re craving self-care, down time, and connection.  But you reach to indulge, trying to get some “me time” – something you do just for you.

It’s not Bad to indulge, it’s just not as self-loving as you could be.  I invite you to press the Pause button on harmful cravings (sugar, junk food, processed stuff, binging on violent movies etc).

I’m all about Pleasure! And I want you to enjoy life, but you can do it in a healthier and more wholesome way that is Life Giving!

Activity:  Come up with a list of ten things you do just for pleasure (think reading fiction, getting a manicure, going for a hike, cuddling with your pet, acts of service…) and do one of those.

There’s no shame in loving yourself through a little food, either, but make it an act of self-love. Discern and choose something that is actually Life Giving! Junk food robs you of vital energy and lifeforce.

Whatever type of craving you’re having, I hope this info can help you get back on a healthier path.
